You may contact a Tri-C Librarian for assistance with getting a New York Times article.

Or, follow these steps to log in to the New York Times database with your Tri-C credentials (S-number and password) and find the article.

If you know the exact article title, follow these steps to locate it:

  1. Go to the A-Z List of databases.
  2. Click N from the horizontal alphabetical list.
  3. Click New York Times : 1980 - Present in the list of databases.
  4. If you are at a Tri-C location, go to step 6.
If you are not at Tri-C, the Tri-C Library Remote Authentication Logon page appears.

Students: Type your Tri-C S-number and password in the Username and Password fields.
Faculty/Staff: Type your Tri-C user name and password in the Username and Password fields.

Click Submit.

  1. On the ProQuest New York Times database page, type (or paste) the article title in the search box at the top of the page.
  2. Click the Search button.

NOTE: If you do not know the exact title, you may get multiple articles or no articles in the results.

If you do not know the exact article title:

  1. Follow steps 1-5 above to get to the New York Times (ProQuest database.
  2. Type as much of the title as you know in the search box.
  3. If you get multiple results, narrow the results as follows:
  • On the left side of the page, under Sorted by, click Relevance to expand the list of other sort options, and choose Most Recent First.
  • On the left side of the page, under Source type, click Newspapers to get articles from the newspaper only.
